Divorce Mediation

Guiding You Through Divorce Mediation in Pennsylvania

Emotions are running high when a couple faces divorce. Anger, resentment and apprehension can quickly lead to bitter disputes. However, hostile disputes in the courtroom can quickly drive up the cost of the divorce, cause the proceedings to drag on and cause further emotional damage to both spouses and the children. Additionally, when children are involved, these courtroom conflicts can destroy any potential for a cordial relationship in co-parenting after the divorce.

That is why our attorneys at Donze & Donze focus on resolving difficult family law issues through negotiation or mediation whenever possible. We recognize that most clients who resolve their divorce in this manner are much better off in the long run.

Is divorce mediation right for you? Call our family law attorneys at Donze & Donze by calling (610) 444-8018 or send us an e-mail to schedule an appointment to discuss your situation.

What is Divorce Mediation?

Mediation is a process where divorcing couple comes together to try to work out a solution to disputed issues in their divorce, from the division of property and potential financial support to issues involving children — child custody and visitation. Mediation gives the couple the opportunity to take control in how and what decisions are made. Whereas, in divorce litigation, a judge (who does not know anyone involved or the unique situations involved) will make these decisions.

The mediation process involves a group of sessions where you and your spouse (and your respective divorce lawyers) meet to discuss the issues. A mediator — a neutral third party who is frequently an attorney or retired judge — will facilitate these mediation sessions. The mediator is objective through the mediation process, not taking sides and remains focused on helping the couple come to agreement somewhere in the middle on disputed issues. Occasionally, it may be necessary to end a session in order to provide a "time-out" period to diffuse an escalating situation and allow the spouses to regain focus on the goal — a workable divorce settlement agreement that everyone can live with.

Mediation does not mean you have to give up on your priorities in the divorce. With proper legal guidance in divorce mediation, favorable solutions can be achieved and you can get back to your life. Our divorce attorneys at Donze & Donze can make all the difference in the divorce mediation process.
